Creating a new buzz
If you have an issue you would like to rally people around, you can create a buzz yourself. In the Get involved section you will see a panel labelled “Create something new”. This contains a link to the form where you enter the details of your new buzz. Here are a few tips.
- Naming your buzz: the name and one sentence description should tell all the users on this site what you care about, and why they should care too.
- Describe your buzz: background on what the objective of the buzz is, and what prompted you to start it. What has happened? What do you need? What else should people know? You can also add a link to another website for more information.
- Promote your buzz: you can promote your buzz to new members when they register, and make it appear on the list of groups.
- Add more information: next, decide if your buzz is a project (limited duration or scope) or a group (longer term, wider scope). Then choose what categories your Buzz best fits into, and add ‘tags’ - keywords to help people find your buzz and relate it to other buzzes. (Look at the tags on other buzzes for a few ideas.) You can also say the neighbourhoods in Croydon where your buzz is active to help people find it.
- Submit your buzz: check your Buzz for errors and spelling, enter a log message (a private record of the changes you made) if you want – and then press Submit.
Now you’ve got your own buzz, and you can start filling it with content, and attracting supporters to your cause!
