Parking a car in Wandle Park is becoming more and more difficult, I regularly have to park in the disabled bay because there are no other bays available. The annoying thing is that these cars that are parked are not users of the park, they are either shoppers who don’t want to pay for parking, residents that don’t want to pay for a permit or people that work in Croydon and get away with parking for free.
We need a system similar to the system in Beddington park where you get a ticket to park – but the ticket is free. I suggest that the ticket lasts for an hour, any longer than an hour and people will still be able to go into Croydon to do shopping. If the people that use the park want to park for more than an hour, they can simply get another ticket – seeing as they will be there, it should not be too much of a hardship!
We also need the lines re -painted and some bollards to stop people from parking over the pathway like they currently do now. Elderly users are having to walk across the grass because of inconsiderate drivers that park right up to the grass – one day, someone will fall and hut themselves because of this issue.
