In Argentina cyclists have number plates, which means one can report their bad riding. In the UK they think they can go through red traffic lights, and also instead of riding in single file, they ride alongside one another, holding up the traffic deliberately. Very much a "holier than thou" attitude. I do object to children riding on the pavements - it's illegal.

Having said all this, car drivers who flout the law by driving along cycle lanes should be fined.

Greening Croydon??

We read in the Sunday Times that Croydon is the worst Borough in the whole  country  for chopping down trees and not replacing them. This seems like a cynical attempt to save money on sweeping up leaves at the expense of some beautiful old trees. Here in Thornton Heath we have lost dozens of old trees with no consultation whatsoever; men arrive with buzz saws and just chop them down. Of the five beautiful trees removed from this road in the last couple of years only two have been replaced; we still have ugly muddy holes in the pavement. The trees that were replaced are pathetic spindly little things that do nothing to enhance the environment of this deprived part of the Borough. Greening Croydon? What a joke! Laurence Gough

I find cyclists very contrary.

Down our comparatively safe residential road adults ride on the pavement while on the busy Kent Gate Way, although there is a cycle lane on the pavement right alongside the road, they ride on the road!

I have no objection to children riding on all pavements all the time as long as they are reasonable with their speed.
