UN Convention on the rights of Persons with Disabilities

In March 2007 the UK Government signed the UN Convention on the ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities’. The Convention is the first treaty in history to give the millions of disabled people across the globe comprehensive human rights. The UK needs to ratify the Convention before it becomes legally binding. So far, it has not done so. Please encourage the Prime Minister to ratify the Convention without reservations - add your name to the Convention Campaign Coalition's online petition at: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/noreservations/

Croydon Summer Uni Art Exhibition The Croydon Summer Uni Art Exhibition was held at Fairfield Halls Croydon, in the Sun-Lounge Area from Tuesday 26th – Saturday 30th Aug 2008. Art work was exhibited by students who attended the Creative Multimedia and Trash Fashion courses funded by Croydon Summer Uni. The exhibition was a mixture of photography and fashion items designed and created by young people aged 11-19. The Creative Multimedia course enabled young people to learn the skills needed to take professional pictures, and think about their surroundings in a new and engaging way.

South Vale is a residential street in Upper Norwood. It's a narrow street and traffic speeds down, often driving with two wheels on the pavement. Many young children live here, and to try to prevent a very possible tragedy, we are campaigning to make the road (and pavements) safe.

Across England people are starting to get going with applications for a lot of cash to pay for a new spaces for young people. Croydon wants to try to get some of this cash (up to 5 million) to make things better for our young people by proving a new facillity of some sort. Here's where you come in. What ideas do you have? Do you care about this? Get involved in this buzz and your ideas will be used as part of our bid. Myplace will only fund projects that have real participation of young people in the development, design and future of running of the project.
